The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) held the Swachhata Marathon on Sunday as part of the Swachh Survekshan 2025-26 campaign. Around 4,000 participants competed in runs of 3,000, 5,000, and 10,000 metres. The marathon started early from Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple near Mysuru Palace. The event was flagged off by Mysuru district Minister H. C. Mahadevappa, alongside MLA T.S. Srivatsa, sculptor Arun Yogiraj, and other officials. Mr. Mahadevappa said, "The city had already earned national recognition twice as a clean city. This time, we must strive to secure the top rank again and bring another award to Mysuru." Sculptor Arun Yogiraj motivated runners by stating that staying active and spending time in fields helps maintain good health. Prizes, medals, and certificates were handed out to winners by Mr. Yogiraj, Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy, MCC Commissioner Shaikh Tanveer Asif, Mysuru City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar, Superintendent of Police Mallikarjun Baladandi, and others. The MCC Commissioner’s statement noted that the marathon was eco-friendly, generating only 473 kg of wet waste.
