Villupuram Starts Village Startup Communities with ₹1 Lakh TANSEED Grants
February 8, 2026
The Villupuram district administration launched village startup communities in Vallam and Nolambur on Saturday. This is part of Tamil Nadu's Gramam Thorum Puthozhil scheme. Collector Sheik Abdul Rahman said the scheme aims to encourage sustainable economic growth in villages. These communities will boost rural innovation, and empower youth, women, and persons with disabilities. They will support ideas, prototyping, and mentor early entrepreneurs. The programme connects startups from smaller towns to big companies. This creates more markets and guidance. Gramam Thorum Puthozhil targets nurturing 100 startups in 100 villages across Tamil Nadu. It helps bring startup support to the grassroots and reduce gaps between rural and urban innovation. In Villupuram, winners from two villages will be chosen based on skills and business plans. One venture per village will get a ₹1 lakh equity-free TANSEED grant. This helps develop prototypes and reach markets early.
