A heart-wrenching drama unfolded at BITS Pilani's Goa campus as 20-year-old Kushagra Jain, a lively third-year student in Economics and Computer Science, was found dead on Saturday morning. Police revealed that Kushagra was discovered lying silently on his bed in a sideward sleeping position around 11 a.m. in his hostel room at Vasco, South Goa district. The room was locked from inside, and attempts to wake him failed, raising immediate alarm. The post-mortem report from Margao district hospital has so far left everyone puzzled—it remains inconclusive about how Kushagra passed away. To crack this mystery, viscera samples have been sent for detailed toxicology tests. Police also seized items including cans of energy drink found in his room to investigate possible causes. A senior police official shared that on Friday night, Kushagra was seen playing table tennis on campus, showing no signs of trouble. Following the tragic discovery, authorities quickly registered a case of unnatural death and recorded statements from fellow students and BITS management. The educational institute expressed deep sorrow in an official media statement, saying: "Kushagra Jain (native of UP), 3rd year student of Economics and Computer Science, was found in an unresponsive state on his bed when his room was opened at around 11 a.m., and the medical team confirmed that he had passed away in his sleep." They added, "The police were informed and have initiated the required procedures to ascertain the cause of death, and we are fully cooperating." Echoing the campus sadness, the institute said, "The loss of a young life is an irreparable tragedy, and the entire campus community is deeply shocked and grieved. Our thoughts and prayers are with Kushagra's family, his friends, and all members of our community who are affected by this sudden loss." The investigation continues as the community hopes to uncover the truth behind this heartbreaking event.
