A 41-year-old scooter rider died on Sunday night in Kasaragod, Kerala. Badarul Muneer, from Kanyana, Mandur, Karnataka, was riding his two-wheeler on National Highway 66. He was travelling against the traffic from Kumbala towards Mangaluru. His scooter collided head-on with a car coming from Mangaluru to Kasaragod. The impact caused serious injuries, and Muneer died on the spot. The car driver, Shailesh, 27, from Mangaluru, filed a complaint. Police registered a case and named Muneer as the accused under Section 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for riding in the wrong direction. Muneer worked as a hotel employee in Pachambalil, Uppala. His body is kept at Kumbala Government Hospital for post-mortem and will be handed over to relatives. Traffic on NH 66 was disrupted for some time due to the accident, police said.
