LAHORE: A judicial magistrate granted bail on Monday to five suspects linked to the death of a mother, Sadia, 24, and her 10-month-old daughter, Rida. They fell into an open manhole near Bhati Gate in the under-construction Data Darbar expansion project on January 28. Sadia's body was found the same night, and her child was recovered the next day. The suspects include Project Manager Asghar Sandhu, CEO Salman Yasin, Site Incharge Hunzala, Ahmed Nawaz, and Daniyal. They were brought before Magistrate Shafqat Abbas after their physical remand expired. The complainant and Sadia's father, Sajid Hussain, told the court they did not want to continue legal action and had no objection to dropping the case. Because of this, the magistrate approved their bail with surety bonds of Rs50,000 each. Earlier, the company's owner voluntarily surrendered to police and gave a cheque of Rs10 million to the family.
