The Byappanahalli Police arrested a serial housebreaker named Abbigere Raja, 43, and seized gold ornaments and valuables worth ₹1.84 crore. Raja had been involved in house burglaries for five years but was caught for the first time. He lives in Abbigere. Police linked him to four house theft cases, three in Byappanahalli and one in Ramamurthy Nagar. The police recovered 1.232 kg of gold, a two-wheeler, and a mobile phone from Raja. On April 18, 2025, he broke into Uday Kumar's house in Sadananda Nagar while the family was away. After a complaint, Byappanahalli Police Inspector Shivakumar P. and his team investigated and arrested Raja on January 4 in Abbigere. Raja was taken to court and placed in 28 days of police custody. During questioning, he confessed to the thefts and selling stolen gold at jewelry shops in Kammanahalli, Abbigere, and Hennur, and also to individuals in Abbigere, Jalahalli, and Goa. Raja worked as a travel agent in Davanagere. He reportedly began burglaries after losses suffered during the Covid period and wore a mask to avoid being identified.
