Canadian Mining Firm Confirms Abducted Workers Found Dead in Mexico

A Canadian mining company, Vizsla Silver Corp, has said that some of its workers abducted in Mexico have been found dead. Ten employees went missing on January 23 from a mining site near Concordia, Mexico. The company learned about the deaths from family members of the kidnapped workers. Vizsla Silver Corp is waiting for official confirmation from Mexican authorities. Michael Konnert, CEO of Vizsla, said, "We are devastated by this outcome and the tragic loss of life." He expressed condolences to the families and added, "Our focus remains on the safe recovery of those who remain missing." A family member told CBC News he identified the body of his brother, José Manuel Castañeda Hernández, a 43-year-old geologist. Jaime Castañeda said, "In truth, this has been very painful to be here, in a place where we don't want to be." He also said, "There's no justice with what's happening."
