February 10, 2026
The Haryana government has transferred IPS officer Maqsood Ahmed with immediate effect. He was Faridabad DCP (NIT) and is now posted as SP at Police Headquarters, Panchkula. This move follows the recent swing collapse incident at the Surajkund fairgrounds in Faridabad. The accident led to the death of an on-duty police inspector and injured 12 others. Two people were arrested on Sunday in connection with the incident. The Opposition blamed the tragedy on government negligence.
Alongside Maqsood Ahmed's transfer, Haryana also moved Suresh Kumar, a Haryana Police Service officer. Kumar, currently DSP in the 2nd Battalion, India Reserve Battalion, Nuh, has been posted as DSP in Hodal (Palwal) to fill a vacant position.
Both transfers were officially ordered by the government on Monday, February 9, 2026.
