A businessman was shot dead by gunmen in Delhi's Bawana industrial area on Monday. Police say the victim was 35-year-old Vaibhav Gandhi, a plastic granules manufacturer. The attackers chased Gandhi after trying to snatch his laptop bag near his factory around 12:51 p.m. and fired multiple shots. One bullet hit his chin, killing him on the spot. The gunmen fled with his belongings. On Tuesday, a social media post from the username "Randeep Malik Anil Pandit" claimed that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and allied groups carried out the killing. The post said Gandhi was "interfering" in their activities and warned others against obstructing their operations. Police are verifying the claim. Multiple teams are working to identify the assailants by analyzing CCTV footage and tracing their escape route. Investigators are also studying the social media accounts mentioned in the post to find links to known gang members. Initially viewed as a failed robbery, the case now points toward extortion and organized crime. The Special Cell has joined the probe because of the alleged involvement of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, known for serious crimes across India.
