Blizzard Reworks Overwatch Hero Anran's Look After Fan Backlash
February 10, 2026
Blizzard is changing the design of Overwatch’s new hero Anran after fans and her voice actor raised concerns on social media. Anran is a fire-based DPS introduced recently. Fans said her in-game model looked slimmer and softer compared to earlier animated versions. Fareeha Andersen, who voices Anran and streams as AskFareeha, spoke openly about her disappointment. She said, "I didn’t want to not address the elephant in the room, but I didn’t want to step on the devs’ toes." Andersen added she mourned the difference between the design she hoped for and the final model. She criticized the trend of ultra-slim features, calling it "Ozempic chic," and said Anran’s current look feels "more docile," which does not fit her bold, fiery personality. The Overwatch community was divided, with some backing change and others defending the model. Game Director Aaron Keller confirmed the team will revisit Anran’s design to better match the "fierce older sister" image they want. He said, "We agree she will be even better if we get this aspect of her right in game." Changes are expected in Season 1, but Blizzard warned that updates to hero models are complex and need careful testing. Andersen praised the update, thanking the devs and community for speaking up.
