Hong Kong authorities have banned the sale of raw oysters from three companies after linking their products to 21 suspected food poisoning cases. The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department’s Centre for Food Safety (CFS) revealed the findings on Tuesday evening. Ten of the cases involved oysters from South Korea’s Seojun Mulsan Co Ltd. "For the sake of prudence, the CFS instructed the trade to stop the import and sale in Hong Kong of raw oysters supplied by this company on February 5," said the department. Additionally, 11 cases were linked to oysters from two local companies — Jeton International Food and 88 Investment Holdings Limited. Both firms were ordered to suspend oyster sales and supply. Meanwhile, health officials are also investigating suspected norovirus food poisoning among diners at the five-star Mandarin Oriental hotel. In response, the government has taken swift action to protect public health by halting oyster sales from these sources.
