On Tuesday evening, the deities of Sri Somaskanda Murthy were taken on the dazzling Simha Vahanam, a fierce lion-shaped carrier, through the streets of Tirupati. This was part of the annual Brahmotsavams festivities at the TTD’s Kapila Theertham temple. The temple city is beautifully adorned as two major temples celebrate their annual festivals simultaneously — Sri Kalyana Venkateswara temple at Srinivasa Mangapuram and Sri Kapileswara Swamy temple in Kapila Theertham. This is the third day of the nine-day event. The jewel-studded deities shimmered atop the Simha Vahanam, surrounded by eye-catching floral decorations that thrilled devotees. Many cheered in spiritual joy as the procession passed by. Earlier in the morning, the Sri Somaskanda Murthy deities were taken out on the Bhoota Vahanam. Meanwhile, the deity of Kamakshi Ammavaru was separately carried on a ‘Tiruchi’. These grand events continue to draw large crowds to Tirupati’s festive sites.
