Gas Cylinder Explosion in Manjunatha Layout Leaves Woman Critically Injured

A 46-year-old woman is fighting for her life after a gas cylinder exploded in Manjunatha Layout, K.R. Puram on Monday evening. The injured are Poornima, a homemaker and building owner, who suffered severe burns, and Venkatesh, a 46-year-old labourer tenant living on the third floor. Police said the third floor has two rooms. Around 7 p.m., Venkatesh noticed a gas leak from the next room and warned Poornima. When she opened the door and switched on the light because the room was dark, it caused an explosion. Venkatesh injured himself with burns while trying to rescue Poornima. Both were taken to hospital for treatment. Fire and Emergency Services rushed to the scene and controlled the fire, police said.
