Tusker Rampage in Odisha Forest Kills 3 Women, Injures 3 Others

A wild tusker caused tragedy in Odisha's Dhenkanal district on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. The elephant attacked women who had gone into Patpuri Reserve Forest to collect firewood. Three women, Indumati Pradhan, Tuni Pradhan, and Kuntala Pradhan, were trampled to death immediately. Three others, Rashmita Pradhan, Rama Dehuri, and Jhilli Pradhan, were seriously injured and taken to the hospital. The incident happened around noon in Lochapalli village, under Dhenkanal Sadar police limits. This forest is an active route for elephants. Authorities continue to monitor the area following the deadly encounter.
