Ten people have died in a shooting at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in British Columbia, including the suspected shooter, police said. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) reported that six bodies were found inside the school. One person died en route to hospital. Another two were found dead at a nearby home linked to the shooting. The RCMP said, "an individual believed to be the shooter was also found deceased with what appears to be a self‑inflicted injury." Two others were airlifted to hospital with serious injuries. Around 25 people were treated for non-life-threatening wounds at a local medical center. "All remaining students and staff were safely evacuated," the police added. British Columbia Premier David Eby called the attack an "unimaginable tragedy" and said the government will "ensure every possible support for community members in the coming days." The small town of Tumbler Ridge has less than 3,000 people. Canada has strict gun laws, but recent mass shootings have raised calls for tougher controls. Former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau introduced a handgun buying and selling freeze in 2022. More updates will follow on this breaking news.
