A deadly shooting struck Tumbler Ridge Secondary School and a nearby home in British Columbia, Canada. Police reported eight people died at the school, including a woman believed to be the shooter. Two more were found dead at a nearby home. More than 25 people were injured, with two airlifted to hospital in life-threatening condition. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said officers reached the school within two minutes. When they arrived, they found seven dead people, including the suspect who likely died of a “self-inflicted injury.” An eighth victim died on the way to the hospital. The attack shocked the small town in the Canadian Rockies, about 1,000 km north of Vancouver. Tumbler Ridge Secondary has 175 students from Grades 7 to 12. British Columbia Premier David Eby confirmed the rapid police response but did not release further details. School shootings are very rare in Canada, making this tragedy even more heartbreaking.
