Security Forces Kill 3 Terrorists in Foiled Attack on Bannu Police Post

PESHAWAR: Security forces stopped a major terrorist attack on a police post in Bannu district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Wednesday night. Three attackers were killed, and nine others were injured.
Militants launched a heavy weapons assault on the Khonia Khel Police Post in Wazir sub-division. They tried to surround and seize the post, but police reacted quickly and forced them to retreat.
On orders from RPO Bannu Sajjad Khan and DPO Bannu Yasir Afridi, extra police teams and Rapid Response Force units rushed to the site, making the militants flee.
Three terrorists died, including commander Umar Azam alias Khizmeti and another named Shahidullah. The third militant is still being identified. One police officer was lightly injured but is safe, police said.
Police added militants tried to attack Ahmadzai Police Station and Fateh Khel Police Post in revenge, but those attacks also failed.
RPO Sajjad Khan praised the police's courage, promising commendation certificates and cash rewards. He said operations against anti-state elements will continue without discrimination.
Bannu has faced many security incidents recently, with attacks on civilians, police, and jirga members. Police have carried out targeted operations to weaken militant groups.
