Telangana to Enjoy Rain Break as IMD Predicts Gusty Winds, Thunderstorms in Some Districts

August 22, 2025

Telangana is all set for a welcome break from the rain that has been playing hide-and-seek for several days! The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has given a fresh update that will surely cheer many. Starting Saturday, August 23, 2025, all districts in Telangana will experience only gusty winds blowing at 30-40 kmph — but no more rain for the next three days. And guess what? No rain alert has been issued for the two following days too! But hold on, there's a small storm alert before the calm. On Friday, August 22, thunderstorms, with dazzling lightning, are very likely to strike some districts including Mancherial, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, and Hanumakonda. This was clearly mentioned in the IMD's bulletin released on Thursday afternoon. The capital city Hyderabad and its nearby areas are not left out of the weather drama. They are expected to see light rain or thundershowers in the evening or night, accompanied by the same gusty winds of 30-40 kmph. So far, only scattered parts of Telangana have seen rain on Thursday morning till 4 p.m., with the highest rainfall recorded at a mere 7 mm in Kataram of Jayashankar Bhupalapally district. This light rainfall brings only a splash of relief amid the intermittent showers. Stay prepared for the gusty winds and keep an eye on those thunderstorms on Friday, but get ready for a dry spell from Saturday onwards. Telangana is all set to catch its breath and dry out for a while, thanks to the IMD forecast!
