Michael Kors celebrated 45 years in fashion with a big show at New York's Metropolitan Opera House during Fashion Week. "It's crazy, I've been in fashion 45 years, but I'm only 32," said Kors, 66. The show honored stylish New York women like Rama Duwaji, the mayor's wife, whom Kors called "amazing" and "remarkable." He compared her style to Michelle Obama's modern fashion sense. Supermodel Christy Turlington, who starred in Kors' first ads, closed the show wearing a stunning sequin gown. Kors also named A$AP Rocky as "the most glamorous New Yorker right now." Celebrities like Uma Thurman, Mary J. Blige, and Dakota Fanning attended the event. Kors spoke against the removal of the Pride flag in Greenwich Village, calling it "criminal." The flag was later raised again by city officials. The show featured opera-inspired outfits with long trains, tuxedos, and opera gloves. Music mixed classical pieces with pop songs, creating a dramatic atmosphere. Kors emphasized the importance of stylish winter coats, proposing elegant shearling and cashmere options. However, the fashion industry faces challenges. Saks Fifth Avenue filed for bankruptcy recently and announced store closures, including Neiman Marcus locations. Chanel is the biggest creditor, owed $136 million. Smaller brands struggle without big department store orders, highlighting risks in the old industry model. Steven Kolb, CEO of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, named bankruptcy, tariffs, inflation, and geopolitics as hurdles. Despite this, he said creativity and spirit remain strong. "People are going to show up with their best creative ideas like we always have," Kolb told Vogue.
