Eleven people died after an oil tanker collided with a passenger bus on the M9 motorway in Gadap, officials confirmed. Malir police said the bus was travelling the wrong way, causing the crash. Dr Summaiya Syed, police surgeon, confirmed nine bodies were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and two to Civil Hospital, Karachi. Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho ordered immediate police presence at the site. He said, “In view of the oil spillage and potential risks, instructions were issued to ensure all necessary safety and precautionary measures in coordination with relevant departments.” Odho also instructed the clearing of roads for ambulances and diverting traffic to avoid jams. Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar expressed grief and urged for urgent medical help for the injured. President Asif Ali Zardari sympathised with the victims’ families and prayed for the injured. The President’s Secretariat said he “prayed for the forgiveness of those who lost their lives” and directed top medical care for survivors.
