Delhi Court Gives NIA 45 Days More to File Chargesheet in Red Fort Blast Case
February 13, 2026
A Delhi court on Friday, February 13, 2026, allowed the National Investigation Agency (NIA) an extra 45 days to submit its chargesheet in the Red Fort blast case. The blast, which happened in November 2025, claimed 11 lives and injured many. The NIA had asked for 90 more days but the court gave just half the time. The probe must be completed within this new deadline.
The court also extended the judicial custody of seven arrested individuals until March 13. The NIA linked the November 10 blast to a “white-collar” terror network discovered by Jammu and Kashmir Police. The vehicle used in the explosion was reportedly driven by Umar ul Nabi, who is called the suicide attacker.
Officials say this was Delhi's first car-borne suicide bombing. Recently, the court allowed the NIA to question Yasir Ahmad Dar, the ninth accused, for 10 more days. The custody of co-accused Bilal Naseer Malla was also extended.
Advocate M.S. Khan, lawyer for accused Shaheen and Muzammil, said the court only partially accepted the NIA’s extension request. He noted that many questions about investigation progress remain unanswered.
The NIA claims Yasir Ahmad Dar, from Shopian district in Jammu and Kashmir, played a major role in planning the attack and had vowed to join suicide missions linked to the plot. He stayed in touch with other accused, including Dr. Nabi.
Dr. Malla, the eighth accused from Baramulla, was arrested on December 9 in Delhi. The NIA alleges he gave shelter and logistic aid to Dr. Nabi and tried to destroy blast evidence.
The investigation continues with support from Central and State agencies to find all those involved in the conspiracy.
