Journalist Khurram Iqbal Detained and Released by Cyber Crime Agency in Lahore

LAHORE: The National Cyber Crime Agency (NCCI) detained Hum News producer Khurram Iqbal at around 1pm on Friday from his sister’s home in Lahore. Unidentified men in plainclothes took him away, sparking social media uproar over his whereabouts. The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) and the Association of Electronic Media Editors and News Directors condemned the incident, demanding his safe release and raising alarms over rising press harassment. Despite initial denials by FIA and provincial officials, it was confirmed that Iqbal was questioned by the NCCI and released around 9pm. A senior NCCI official confirmed his custody and questioning but declined to disclose charges or reasons for detention.
