ICE Probes Two Agents for Possible False Testimony in Minneapolis Migrant Shooting
February 14, 2026
Two ICE agents may have lied about shooting a migrant in Minneapolis last month. ICE acting director Todd Lyons said the officers gave "untruthful statements" in sworn testimony. The two officers are on administrative leave during the internal probe. "Lying under oath is a serious federal offence," Lyons said. On January 14, a migrant was shot in the leg after an alleged attack with a shovel and broom by three migrants, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). But new video evidence shows the officers' statements were inaccurate. "Video evidence has revealed that sworn testimony provided by two separate officers appears to have made untruthful statements," Lyons said. The US attorney's office is investigating. The officers could be fired or face criminal charges. Initially, DHS said the shooting followed a car chase and fight with a Venezuelan migrant. Three migrants attacked the officer, who fired in self-defense. Two suspects, Alfredo Alejandro Aljorna and Julio Cesar Sosa-Celis, were charged with assaulting federal officers. Charges against them were dropped after new evidence contradicted earlier claims. Minnesota's US attorney Daniel N Rosen asked to dismiss the case "with prejudice," meaning it cannot be refilled. A judge approved the dismissal Friday. Lawyers for the accused called the dropped charges a relief. A third Venezuelan man was arrested and later released by court order. On Thursday, border enforcement in Minnesota will end after more than two months, with over 4,000 undocumented immigrants arrested during the campaign, said former Trump official Tom Homan.
