The Supreme Court of India has allowed lawyers to appear through video conferencing from February 16 to February 20 if they face trouble coming in person because of traffic caused by the AI Impact Summit. This summit is scheduled at Bharat Mandapam, close to the court. The court issued a circular after receiving a request from the Supreme Court Bar Association. It said, "In view of the representation received from Supreme Court Bar Association, it is hereby informed that on account of anticipated traffic congestion around the precincts of Supreme Court of India during the 'AI Impact Summit' scheduled to be held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi during the period from February 16, 2026, to February 20, 2026, advocates may, during the above period appear through video conferencing before the hon'ble court if they face difficulty in appearing before courts in person." To help advocates use video links, the court will share the necessary links with Advocates-on-Record. However, attending in person is not mandatory, and all court benches will work in a hybrid mode during this time. The AI Impact Summit will run for five days at Bharat Mandapam and is expected to host thousands of delegates from more than 30 countries. Over 10,000 police personnel will be deployed in Delhi to maintain strict security. The move helps avoid delays and disruptions in court work during the busy event.
