Hollywood Agent Casey Wasserman Sells Talent Agency Amid Epstein Scandal Fallout
February 14, 2026
Casey Wasserman, a top Hollywood talent agent with stars like Ed Sheeran and Kendrick Lamar, announced he is selling his talent agency. This follows the release of his messages with Ghislaine Maxwell tied to the Jeffrey Epstein case. Wasserman said these "past personal mistakes" had made him "a distraction" to the business. He informed staff he wanted to focus on leading the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics instead. Despite the controversy, the LA 2028 Olympic committee voted to keep Wasserman as chair after a review that found no new wrongdoing beyond public records.
The exposed texts dated from 2003 show suggestive messages between Wasserman and Maxwell. For example, Wasserman asked, "So, what do I have to do to see you in a tight leather outfit?" Maxwell replied with flirtatious comments about giving him a massage. These revelations caused a backlash. Several clients, including singer Chappell Roan and soccer star Abby Wambach, cut ties with Wasserman’s agency. Roan said, "No artist, agent or employee should ever be expected to defend or overlook actions that conflict so deeply with our own moral values."
Other artists and groups like Dropkick Murphys and Weyes Blood also left the agency or spoke out. Wasserman apologized for his past messages, saying they happened "long before [Maxwell’s] horrific crimes came to light." He also denied having any personal or business relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. Wasserman joins other business leaders who stepped down due to links with Epstein or Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year sentence related to sex trafficking.
This scandal has reshaped Hollywood’s talent scene and added fresh scrutiny on Epstein’s wide network. Wasserman’s agency will now continue under president Mike Watts as he steps away amid growing client departures and media pressure.
