Alert on JeM Commander Saifullah in Kishtwar; Movement Restricted Near Kathua Border
February 14, 2026
On February 14, 2026, Jammu and Kashmir Police raised an alert on Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) commander Saifullah active in Kishtwar's Chenab Valley. Police believe Saifullah is planning to escape after a month-long anti-terror operation that killed one terrorist. Sandeep Mehta, SSP Doda, said, “Saifullah’s pictures, with and without beard, have been put out. In case anyone sees him, the police should be informed. There are reports he may use a burqa to escape from the region.” Posters have been placed in Doda to alert the public.
Anti-terror operations continue in nearby areas, including a four-day operation in Thathri. Meanwhile, the Kathua District Magistrate has restricted unnecessary movement within 5 kilometres of the International Border due to a “sensitive situation” and possible cross-border firing. The order prohibits movement of heavy vehicles on the old Samba-Kathua road between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. The restrictions started today and will stay for 60 days or until further notice.
The police remain vigilant as security tensions rise along Jammu and Kashmir’s border regions.
