A conductor of the Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (KKRTC) was suspended for forcing an elderly couple to get off the bus mid-journey near Gundlur village in Wadagera taluk. The 70-year-old Sangamesh and his wife Annapurna, 60, boarded the bus at Yadgir on February 9, heading to Sangameshwar temple at Sangam village. The conductor allegedly said the bus would not go to Sangam for only two passengers and asked them to leave. Annapurna told The Hindu, "Even after repeated requests made by us and the co-passengers, the conductor declined to take us till Sangam village and deboarded us from the bus." With no option, the couple walked two kilometers. A biker helped them reach the village after hearing their plight. A passer-by filmed them struggling with bags, and the video spread on social media, sparking public demand for action. Transport Minister Ramlinga Reddy said he instructed the KKRTC Managing Director at Kalaburagi to suspend the conductor for breaking rules. Later, Divisional Controller Manjunath suspended Chandappa, the driver-cum-conductor from the Yadgir depot. This incident has prompted an official inquiry by KKRTC.
