Malaysia Seeks to Seize US$115 Million Swiss Assets of Saudi Prince Linked to 1MDB
February 15, 2026
Malaysia's Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has filed a court order to seize overseas assets worth about US$115.3 million tied to Saudi Prince Turki Abdullah Al Saud. The funds are held in several Swiss bank accounts, including those at JP Morgan (Suisse) and UBS Switzerland.
MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki confirmed the court application on Sunday. The application was filed under the Anti-Money-Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act.
In October 2026, MACC had already blocked US$115.3 million in transactions held in three Swiss bank accounts under the prince’s name. This action was based on information from 2011 alleging that Prince Turki received, transferred, and used money from the misappropriated 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) funds.
The MACC was established in 2009 to investigate and fight corruption and abuse of power in Malaysia's public and private sectors. It has the authority to summon people, search properties, seize assets, and arrest suspects.
Recently, the commission also investigated high-profile cases like military procurement irregularities and a bribery case involving a former minister.
