The Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital has rejected social media reports claiming that the No Objection Certificate (NOC) for its Karachi fundraising event has been withdrawn. The hospital clarified the notice being shared is from December 2023. It said the NOC was for a fundraising gala held in Islamabad on December 29, 2023, supporting the Karachi project. The hospital confirmed that fundraising and construction work on the Karachi facility have carried on without interruption. "The Karachi hospital remains on track for opening in December 2026," the statement added. Earlier, SKMCH had announced that "approximately 70 per cent" of the nuclear medicine facility was completed, with the rest progressing as scheduled. Shaukat Khanum hospitals in Lahore and Peshawar continue to provide free cancer treatment to thousands of patients daily. The Karachi center aims to extend this quality care to more patients, regardless of their financial capacity. The hospital thanked supporters for their concern and assured them that their mission to fight cancer goes forward with the trust and generosity of the public.
