KSRTC Increases Luggage Charges by 15% Starting February 16
February 15, 2026
The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has raised its luggage charges by roughly 15%. The new rates take effect from February 16, 2026. Passengers can still carry up to 30 kg of luggage for free. Charges apply only if luggage exceeds this weight. KSRTC calculates rates based on travel distance, with one stage equal to six kilometres. For luggage over 30 kg, the charge is ₹6 for 1 to 5 stages, ₹12 for 6 to 10 stages, ₹20 for 11 to 15 stages, and ₹25 for 16 to 20 stages. Charges increase gradually beyond that, reaching ₹145 for 156 to 160 stages. KSRTC explained that luggage charges are normally revised when passenger fares go up. Although bus fares rose in January 2025, luggage charges were not updated at that time. KSRTC says this revision addresses that delay. The last change in luggage charges was made in December 2021.
