Pakistan Bowled Out for 114, Lose to India by 61 Runs in Colombo Thriller
February 15, 2026
Pakistan lost their big match against India by 61 runs in Colombo on Sunday, being all out for 114. With this win, India reached the Super Eight stage. Pakistan now has to beat Namibia in their last group match on February 18 to qualify. The defeat sparked sharp criticism of Pakistan’s team. Former Pakistan player and commentator Ramiz Raja called the game “a bit of a disaster — especially batting.” On X, he said, “India have been fielding [the] same bowling attack against Pakistan since last two or three years, and every time [the] batsmen have been woefully ordinary,” adding there was “no growth.” Former captain Mohammad Yousuf took aim at Shaheen Shah Afridi, Babar Azam, and Shadab Khan, saying “time’s up” for them. He added, “Pakistan’s T20 squad needs new performers, not empty wins against weaker sides.” Meanwhile, ex-opener Ahmed Shahzad called the performance “pathetic cricket” and the “sad story of Pakistan cricket,” demanding fresh faces like Fakhar Zaman, Khawaja Nafay, and Salman Mirza be given a chance. Pakistan player Sohaib Maqsood blamed the bowling for the defeat. “It’s not a 180 [run] pitch, even 140 could have been tough to chase on this pitch,” Maqsood said on X. He questioned Pakistan’s decision to bowl first after winning the toss. Former England captain Michael Vaughan remarked that India “seem to intimidate Pakistan on the cricket field” and praised India’s better mentality. Indian commentator Harsha Bhogle said Pakistan’s cricket board puts too much pressure on players, visible in their shaky performance. Pakistan Information Minister Attaullah Tarar did praise Saim Ayub for his bowling. The cricket world waits for Pakistan’s next move.
