Thousands Celebrate Mahashivaratri Across North Karnataka with Grand Temple Rituals

Mahashivaratri was celebrated widely across North Karnataka on Sunday. Special pujas took place in many temples from cities to villages. In Hubballi, a huge crowd attended the Shivaratri Jatra Mahotsav at Sadguru Sri Siddharoodha Swamy temple. Devotees came from all over the country, many on foot, chanting "Sri Siddharoodha Maharajki Jai." Volunteers from various organisations helped by distributing water and fruit slices. People paid respects at the Samadhis of saints Sri Siddharoodha and Sri Gurunatharudha. The Sri Siddharoodha Swamy Rathotsava is set for Monday. At Sri Ramalingeshwara Temple in Unkal, thousands kept a night vigil. The historic Chandramouleshwara Temple in Unkal saw long queues from morning. At Ishwar Temple, Railway Station Road, devotees offered dates, holige, kadubu, and fruits. Bhajans played throughout day and night. Budanagudda Basavanna Devara Temple also held rituals. In Dharwad, Someshwar Temple hosted devotees bringing milk, water, and bael leaves. Many observed fasts and sang devotional songs at night. Some Mahila Mandals organized bhajan singing and dance inside the temple areas. Mudi Maruti Temple in Mangalwarpeth also held celebrations. Belagavi had long lines outside temples, with police managing crowds near Sri Kapileshwar Temple. Leaders joined celebrations there. KLE Society chairman Prabhakar Kore visited Sri Mahabaleshwar Temple in Gokarna, recalling lifelong visits with family. Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar, her son Mrunal, and MLC Channaraj Hattiholi prayed for state welfare at Kapileshwar Temple. At the Shivalaya inside KLE Society campus, grand religious programs and Maha Rudrabhishek rituals were held, attended by KLE directors, Vice-Chancellor S.S. Mahantashetti, Principal Rajesh Pawar, and others. Chief priest Vedamurthy Shankaraya Hiremath conducted the ceremonies. MLA Shashikala Jolle, her husband, and former MP Anna Saheb Jolle visited Sri Mahadev Mandir in Nippani. The festival united thousands in devotion and vibrant celebrations across the region.
