Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated a new ₹60.68 crore flyover at the Sardar Patel Road-Rajiv Gandhi Salai junction in south Chennai. The 652-metre 'L'-shaped flyover allows vehicles from Guindy to turn right onto Rajiv Gandhi Salai without stopping at traffic signals. Stalin's convoy was the first to use the flyover. The structure is uni-directional and has two lanes. It features a 45-metre radius turn designed for motorist safety and a speed limit of 30 km/hr. Safety measures include taller retaining walls and warning signs. Officials expect 60% of Guindy traffic to use this flyover, reducing congestion. Highways Minister E.V. Velu, Health Minister Ma. Subramanian, MP Thamizhachi Thangapandian, Highways Secretary R. Selvaraj, and Chief Engineer Jawahar Muthuraj attended the opening on February 16, 2026.
