India’s First National Cow Culture Museum to Be Built in Mathura
February 16, 2026
The Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad is setting up India’s first national cow culture museum on the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Veterinary Science University campus in Mathura. The land for this project has already been chosen. Agra Divisional Commissioner Nagendra Pratap said the museum will explain the "religious, cultural, and spiritual significance of cattle" and show the scientific uses of cows and their products. He said, "This unique confluence of tradition and science will foster a holistic understanding of cow conservation."
On February 14, 2026, officials including Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad Vice-President Shailajakant Mishra and others visited the site and discussed the plan. The museum will display about 100 digital and symbolic models of different cattle breeds across India, including endangered species. This will help future generations learn about India’s rich cow heritage.
A special exhibition will focus on cow milk and its products like curd, cheese, and ghee. It will showcase their scientific, nutritional, and Ayurvedic benefits using modern technology. There will also be a dairy parlour that offers visitors pure dairy products.
The project views the cow as a "mother" in Indian culture, emphasizing its spiritual role in the Sanatan tradition. The Divisional Commissioner said this shows cow conservation is connected not only to farming and economics but also to religious practices and public well-being.
Developed following Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s directives, this museum aims to boost the Braj region’s identity and mark a step towards a cow-based economy with scientific standards.
