Imran Khan's Eye Vision Improves, No Major Complications After Jail Checkup
February 16, 2026
Imran Khan, PTI founder and former prime minister, underwent an eye examination inside Adiala Jail on Sunday. His sister, Noreen Khanum, shared that his vision improved and the swelling around his eye decreased, referring to an initial medical report. The checkup happened after Imran claimed on February 12 that his right eye had only 15 percent vision left. The Supreme Court ordered a medical team to examine him before February 16. Doctors including Dr Arif from Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences and Dr Nadeem Qureshi from Al-Shifa Trust Hospital conducted the tests using a slit lamp and OCT scan machine brought to the jail. After the exam, senior doctors Dr Asim Yousuf and Dr Mirza were briefed through a conference call. Barrister Gohar was also updated. Though medical experts at Shifa International Hospital were prepared to treat Imran, he was not transferred there. Retina specialist Dr Aamir Awan remained on standby late into the night. Noreen confirmed that “no major complications” emerged so far. More updates are expected.
