Six Dead in Sindh Highway Crash, Speeding Suspected; CM Orders Crackdown
February 16, 2026
A deadly crash between a car and a trailer occurred on Monday morning on the National Highway in Sindh’s Naushahro Feroze District. Six people travelling in the car died, while the trailer’s driver was injured, said Senior Superintendent of Police Mir Rohal Khoso. The accident happened between 5 am and 6 am. "Ostensibly, speeding and brake failure were probable reasons," said SSP Khoso. One side of the highway was under construction, which may have contributed to the accident. To curb accidents, five checkpoints will be set up with the motorway police to check vehicle speed and fitness.
Sindh Inspector General Javed Alam Odho ordered a thorough probe and legal action against those responsible. The province has seen frequent fatal road accidents lately. Just a day earlier, 11 people died in a bus and trailer collision in Khairpur district. Two days ago, 13 lost lives in an oil tanker and bus crash near Karachi.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah expressed deep grief over the loss of lives. The car was travelling from Nasirabad taluka in Larkana Division towards Karachi. CM Murad directed strict implementation of traffic rules. He ordered a crackdown on overloading and speeding across the province. He also called for tougher vehicle monitoring and fitness checks. "The protection of the public’s life and property is the government’s top responsibility," he added.
