Members of the Dharwad Separate Municipal Corporation Struggle and Development Forum have warned of possible protests if a new municipal corporation for Dharwad city is not created soon. They say officers claim the process is in its final stage. But immediate approval is needed. The forum said, "The State Government and elected representatives must show serious interest in approving the long-pending demand of the people of Dharwad. Otherwise, another phase of protests by citizens will become inevitable." The group also challenged the idea that keeping Hubballi and Dharwad united brings more funds. "This is far from the truth," they said. "If Hubballi and Dharwad function as separate municipal corporations, each city would receive separate allocations, enabling faster development." The forum alleges the final government notification is delayed at the Governor’s level for political reasons. They pointed out that Hubballi has received more funds in the past, and that similar delays continue. They added, "Elected representatives lack the foresight to recognise this." The forum warned that until separate corporations are formed, Dharwad will continue to face administrative troubles and development setbacks. They stressed that only a vision beyond politics can ensure balanced growth for both cities.
