Time Bomb Blast Near Miryan Police Station in Bannu Kills 2, Injures 17

PESHAWAR: A powerful explosion near Miryan Police Station in Bannu district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killed at least two people, including a child, and injured 17 others on Monday. The blast happened when a time bomb attached to a motorcycle went off near shops in front of the police station. Police officers were unharmed, but many civilians nearby were caught in the blast. Several injured are in critical condition.
Muhammad Noman Khattab, spokesperson for the Medical Teaching Institution, said victims were taken to District Headquarters Hospital and Khalifa Gul Nawaz Hospital. Rescue 1122 teams rapidly reached the site, moving the dead and wounded to hospitals.
The police deployed a heavy contingent along with the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) and Quick Response Force (QRF) to secure the area. A thorough search operation began immediately. The BDS team worked to clear the site to prevent any further threats.
Regional Police Officer Sajjad Khan visited the hospitals to check on the injured. Authorities confirmed evidence collection and investigation are ongoing.
Bannu has seen many violent incidents lately, with attacks on both civilians and security forces. Earlier this year, explosions injured children and local leaders, highlighting a worrying rise in militant violence in the area.
