PTI founder Imran Khan was examined by top eye specialists in Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail on Sunday for an eye problem causing vision loss in his right eye. His party called the inspection “malicious” because it happened without his family or personal doctors. The law minister later said, “there was nothing as such to worry about.” Doctors Prof Nadeem Qureshi and Prof M Arif examined Imran on February 15. The medical report states Imran’s right eye has 6/24 partial vision unaided and improved to 6/9 with glasses. His left eye has almost normal vision at 6/9 unaided and 6/6 with glasses. Tests showed the cornea was clear. The right eye had "mild intragel haemorrhage," retinal haemorrhages, and resolving swelling (macular oedema), but the retina remains attached. The left eye was normal. An OCT scan revealed reduced swelling in the right eye, with central thickness improving from 550 to 350. The left eye was normal. Doctors prescribed Nevanac anti-inflammatory eye drops twice daily for both eyes, Co-sopt drops twice daily for the right eye to lower eye pressure, and Systane ultra artificial tears thrice daily for both eyes. They may give a second anti-VEGF shot to reduce abnormal blood vessels and improve vision. PTI leaders and Imran’s personal doctors received detailed updates from the examining doctors. The report says all expressed confidence in the treatment and follow-up plans.
