Norwegian Scientist Injured Testing Secret Microwave Weapon Linked to Havana Syndrome
February 17, 2026
A Norwegian scientist secretly tested a machine that emits strong microwave pulses on himself in 2024, aiming to prove these devices are safe. But he ended up with brain damage and symptoms similar to Havana Syndrome, a mysterious illness affecting US diplomats globally. The Norwegian government reported the incident to the CIA, leading to visits from Pentagon and White House teams. Havana Syndrome first appeared in 2016 with diplomats in Cuba suffering headaches, memory loss, vertigo, and hearing problems. Since then, cases appeared in over 15 countries. The US government calls these "anomalous health incidents." The secret weapon tested by the scientist supports claims that pulsed-energy devices might cause the syndrome. There was talk that the US got such a machine after capturing Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro in January. An anonymous bodyguard from that raid said a wave of sound left security staff bleeding, vomiting, and unable to move. Former President Donald Trump also hinted at a device called "The Discombobulator" stopping missile launches. Many suspect foreign powers like Russia behind these attacks, but no proof has emerged and the Kremlin denies it. Others think the syndrome might come from sonic attacks, stress, pollution, or chemicals. In 2022, the CIA said a foreign country was probably not responsible. After the 2024 US election, officials said they were unsure but believed external factors might play a role, according to The Washington Post.
