X, the social network owned by Elon Musk, was hit by a major outage on Monday afternoon. Users from many continents saw blank feeds and could not view new posts. The site was largely inaccessible for around two hours. By 3:30pm GMT, the platform returned to normal with timelines updating again. The outage was noticed sharply on Down Detector, a website that tracks online service issues. In Pakistan, user reports peaked at 6:54pm with 275 complaints, then fell to 8 by 7:54pm. Internet monitor Netblocks said on Mastodon that X faced “international outages.” They clarified it was “not related to country-level internet disruptions or filtering.” Reporters in countries like France and Thailand also found they could not access X during the outage. X representatives did not immediately comment on the cause of the problem. The disruption and its fix were reported in Dawn on February 17, 2026.
