Saudi Arabia Offers 90-Day Emergency Health Coverage for Pilgrims During Hajj and Umrah
February 17, 2026
Saudi Arabia is strengthening healthcare for pilgrims coming from outside the Kingdom. The new policy offers emergency health coverage for up to 90 days during Hajj and Umrah. It covers urgent medical treatment, hospitalisation, and care for sudden incidents including accidents.
This scheme is specifically for pilgrims with pilgrimage visas, not for residents or citizens. It prioritises emergency and critical care over routine treatments, covering the entire stay allowed by the visa.
Previously, Saudi Arabia provided broader insurance packages for pilgrims with maximum coverage limits. Alongside this new policy, digital health tools and a 24/7 multilingual health call centre support pilgrims during mass gatherings.
Mandatory health certificates and medical checks before arrival also help protect pilgrims' well-being.
For those planning pilgrimages in 2026 or later, insurance activates with the visa and covers emergency healthcare for up to 90 days. It reflects Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 goal to improve healthcare quality and safety for visitors during major religious events.
