PTI Sit-in Enters 5th Day, Family Seeks Meeting with Imran Khan amid Health Concerns
February 17, 2026
ISLAMABAD: The PTI-led TTAP alliance continued their sit-in at Parliament House for the fifth day on Tuesday. They demand access to jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan, whose health has become a concern after a recent medical report from Adiala jail. PTI leader Asad Qaiser confirmed the sit-in is still ongoing around 5 pm. An X account reported the vehicle carrying Imran's sisters was stopped en route to the jail. TTAP spokesperson Akhunzada Hussain Ahmed Yousafzai said two sit-in participants would visit Imran as their names were allowed for the meeting. He expressed hope that at least one family member or all sisters would meet Imran today to confirm his health status. Yousafzai said, "It will end the rumours about the health of Imran Khan, as they will directly hear from him and will share Khan sahib’s views regarding his health." He urged the government to allow the meeting, claiming it might ease tensions if the medical report is accurate. The family has been barred from visits for weeks until the Supreme Court intervened, allowing a PTI lawyer to meet Imran. The lawyer's report said Imran has just 15% vision in his right eye. Imran’s party and family rejected this report. PTI Central Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram quoted Imran’s personal doctor Dr Aasim Yusuf, saying he could neither confirm nor deny the report as he was not allowed to meet or examine Imran. Akram stated, "The PTI rejects this report and strongly demands that Imran Khan sahib be immediately met by his family and personal physician and that he be immediately treated and examined at Al-Shifa International." Imran’s sister Aleema Khanum also categorically rejected all medical reports circulating about his condition. She demanded, "Imran Khan must be urgently transferred to a proper medical facility (Shifa International Hospital Islamabad) where he shall be examined by qualified specialists under Dr Asim Yousuf’s supervision and in the presence of his family." Aleema said she and others would try to meet Imran at 1:30 pm at Adiala jail and expected authorities to allow the visit, calling it his legal right. The family plans a press conference outside the jail at 4 pm following the meeting. Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and provincial lawmakers kept up their protest outside KP House in Islamabad. The sit-in continues as the opposition seeks answers to Imran Khan's health and treatment demands.
