Large Ceiling Piece Collapses Into Indoor Pool at Hong Kong’s Lake Silver Estate
February 17, 2026
At Hong Kong’s Lake Silver estate in Ma On Shan, a large section of the ceiling fell into the indoor swimming pool on Saturday. The estate’s customer service centre told residents that the clubhouse contractor reported the falling material. Photos show big debris partly lying in the pool water. One resident confirmed the pool was closed when it happened. “Fortunately, no one was injured, and the indoor swimming pool is currently closed for a detailed inspection,” said the customer service centre. It added that the owners’ committee is very concerned. They have asked the developer, Sino Land, the clubhouse service contractor, and MTR Corp to find out why it happened and fix the problem quickly. MTR Corp said it was “highly concerned” and is carrying out a detailed investigation before starting repairs. Another photo shows a cracked ceiling supported by wood in a lift lobby of a block in the same estate. The South China Morning Post contacted MTR Corp about this ceiling damage too. Sino Land has not yet responded to requests for comment.
