The Ramazan moon was sighted in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday night. Gulf News reports that Wednesday, February 18, will mark the start of the holy month in both countries. The official Saudi Press Agency also confirmed on X that February 18 will be the first day of Ramazan in Saudi Arabia. In Afghanistan, Tolo News announced Ramazan would begin on February 18 as well. “In a statement issued by the Supreme Court, it said that in the provinces of Parwan, Kandahar, Helmand, and Zabul, a large number of people sighted the crescent moon of Ramadan and reported it to the Sharia courts,” stated the post on X. Meanwhile, Pakistan is waiting for the final decision. The Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) said the first day of Ramazan is likely to fall on February 19 (Thursday). However, Pakistan's Ruet-i-Hilal Committee is the official body authorized to confirm the date. A meeting of the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee will be held tomorrow at the Auqaf Department building in Peshawar. Additionally, zonal and district meetings will take place at their headquarters. According to a notification from the religious affairs ministry, “The chairman Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee will announce the decision of moon sighting or otherwise subsequently on the basis of information received to this end.”
