The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is creating a portal for citizens to check property tax assessments online. This will let property owners see their building details, current tax, and trade licence fees if any. Users can view measurements from GIS surveys and Google Street View. They can also report errors directly for quick resolution. Additionally, GHMC is assigning QR codes to every building in the city. These codes will provide instant info on property tax, building permissions, trade licences, water connections, and fire clearances. The portal will cover the entire tri-corporation area: GHMC, Cyberabad Municipal Corporation, and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation. Together, these areas have about 30 lakh buildings. Currently, property tax billing is unclear and confusing for many owners. This leads to corruption and disputes. As Additional Commissioner (Revenue) Anurag Jayanti said, "We are developing a portal, where each property holder can log in and see what the building is, what is the current tax levied, or in case of commercial buildings, trade licence fee. He or she can see the measurements as per the GIS survey, as per the Google Street View, and as per other databases available." The QR codes will serve citizens for location use and help officials verify building details quickly, making the tax process more transparent and efficient.
