Visakhapatnam Prepares for International Fleet Review 2026 with Tight Security and Sanitation
February 18, 2026
The City of Destiny, Visakhapatnam, is all set to host the International Fleet Review 2026 on February 20. The Eastern Naval Command, district administration, and Andhra Pradesh government have made thorough arrangements. VVIPs and naval delegates from India and abroad have already arrived.
Rehearsals along the iconic Beach Road have boosted the festive mood, reminding residents of 2016's grand event. Participating naval personnel visited top tourist spots like Kailasagiri, Tenneti Park, Rushikonda Beach, and CMR Central, praising the scenic coastline and clean public spaces.
The Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) completed extensive beautification before the event. Over 1,800 city police personnel provide tight security. A Temporary Red Zone covers the area between INS Dega and The Park Hotel Junction from February 17 to 20, banning drone flights.
Metal detectors will be at key gates including Gokul Park and Police Mess. The Dog Squad and Bomb Disposal Squad are on high alert, especially along Beach Road and Port Road. Special control rooms by GVMC and police oversee security and crowd management.
GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg said 1,095 sanitation workers are on duty, with 365 working in three shifts from February 17 to 19. Six large and eight small sweepers plus four beach cleaners are deployed. Street vendors must use designated bins. Extra staff are assigned to garbage hotspots for quick cleaning.
Police Commissioner Shankabratha Bagchi warned that violating the no-drone zone will be punished under the Aircraft Act, 1934. With public rehearsals drawing crowds, a massive gathering is expected on February 20.
