February 18, 2026
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has issued a strict warning to officials that they will face on-the-spot suspension if roads are not clean. He also called for exploring skywalks in busy traffic areas and the use of smart poles within Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits. Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao held a review meeting about garbage collection, sanitation, and public health protection. He said a surveillance unit will be set up to monitor sanitation in Hyderabad. The GHMC Commissioner, R.V. Karnan, said Hyderabad produces 7,800 tonnes of garbage daily. To manage this, 4,500 Swachh Autos collect garbage door-to-door. Karnan also inspected sanitation at major landmarks like Mecca Masjid and Charminar. Meanwhile, Cyberabad Municipal Corporation’s Commissioner, G. Srijana, checked sanitation operations in Jeedimetla Circle and urged 100% door-to-door garbage collection. Both officials reviewed deployment, route maps, and waste collection details to improve cleanliness. The Chief Minister said he will personally visit all city zones to ensure sanitation standards are met.
