Police Commissioner S.D. Sharanappa compared the police and medical fields, saying both serve society in crucial ways. "Doctors fight diseases and save individual lives, while the police fight social evils such as crime to safeguard society as a whole. Both professions are committed to ensuring a safe and healthy society," he said. Sharanappa spoke at the opening of a health camp at United Hospital in Kalaburagi on February 18. The camp marked the hospital's 14th anniversary. He praised United Hospital for providing advanced healthcare close to home. Until recently, patients had to travel to Hyderabad, Bengaluru, or Solapur for serious treatments like accident and trauma care. "Today, quality critical care and advanced surgical facilities are available within the city," Sharanappa added. The hospital has performed nearly 40,000 surgeries in 14 years, showing strong public trust and commitment to saving lives. Superintendent of Police Adduru Srinivasulu pointed out the hospital's partnership with the police. They work together on road safety awareness and first-aid support. The hospital regularly helps police staff and the public throughout the year. Chairman and managing director Vikram Siddareddy recalled that veteran leader Mallikarjun Kharge had opened the hospital 14 years ago. Kharge stressed the need for advanced accident and trauma services in Kalaburagi to avoid needless deaths. Siddareddy said, "Mr. Kharge urged us to build an institution capable of providing the most advanced healthcare services at affordable prices so that people need not travel to Solapur, Hyderabad, or Bengaluru. I can confidently say that we achieved that goal within a few years of establishment. Over the years, the hospital has saved tens of thousands of valuable lives." At the event, thousands received free consultations and diagnostic tests like CT scans, ECG, 2D Echo, X-rays, ultrasound, blood tests, and BMI checks. Medicines prescribed were also distributed free. Senior specialists from many departments were present to help patients.
