The Telangana Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) Force arrested three people carrying 36.878 kilograms of ganja from Odisha. The drugs were being taken to Karimnagar and Hyderabad for illegal sale. Acting on a tip-off, the team stopped two persons riding a motorcycle towards Karimnagar through Warangal. The arrested include Buchala Aditya alias Indra, 20, a third-year B.Tech (CSE) student, and Gollapalli Nikhil alias Chintu, 19, an Intermediate second-year student, both from Karimnagar. Police also arrested Vadlakonda Yeswanth alias Mintu at Godavarikhani in Peddapalli district. Yeswanth had a history of two NDPS cases. The police seized 36.878 kilograms of ganja worth about ₹18.43 lakh, the motorcycle, and a mobile phone. Investigations showed the accused got ganja from suppliers in Odisha at ₹2,000 per kg. They planned to distribute it among students in Karimnagar and Hyderabad. Money for buying the drugs was pooled by eight friends for personal use and resale. During questioning, Aditya said he became addicted in his first engineering year and later started selling. This was the fourth time since January 2025 the group brought ganja from Odisha. Aditya had an earlier case with Karimnagar I-Town police and was released on bail. Police registered a case at Warangal Narcotics Police Station under sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The arrested were presented before court. Teams are tracing other accomplices: suppliers Bhagavan and Kalavena Praveen Kumar alias Chanti from Odisha; and buyers Ammula Trinesh, Sundaragiri Sanjay, Ajay, Sidhu, Sridhar, and Sundaragiri Eshwar. EAGLE officials warned that some students shift quickly from using drugs to selling, harming schools and peers. They also noted families often delay reporting such issues. Officials urged the public to share information via toll-free helpline 1908, WhatsApp 87126 71111, or email. They promised informants' identities will be kept secret.
